Telecom Network Privatization & Financing in Indonesia
Delphos assisted US West on its winning bid for the privatization of the West Java telephone network in Indonesia. The total cost of the project, which improved the availability and quality of business and residential connections, was $635 million. A 42-bank syndicate provided $430 million in long-term, non-recourse debt financing, which included guarantees from several export credit agencies. The deal included $50 million of lender’s coverage from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (“OPIC”) and $215 million of political risk insurance from a syndicate of international public and private sector insurers.
