Energy Project Development and Technology Advisory Services in Myanmar
Delphos was selected by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (“USTDA”) to provide technical assistance to Myanmar’s Ministry of Electric Power (“MoEE”). Delphos developed a standardized process for evaluation and procurement of IPP projects including developing suite of model project agreement (PPA, government support agreement, land lease agreement, direct agreement with lenders, etc.). Delphos also produced a grid impact study assessing the potential impact of new solar PV and wind projects on Myanmar’s electric grid. Delphos conducted bankable feasibility studies for three shortlisted IPP projects, which included technical, environmental, social impact, economic, financial, and legal review. Electricity demand in Myanmar is expected to increase more than fivefold by 2030, which will require an additional 20,000 MW of generation capacity, hence implementing a new standardized evaluation process is critical to the MoEE’s efforts to expand and modernize the electrical system.
