Wireless Network Financing in Hungary
Delphos structured and arranged a $209,000 grant through the USAID Capital Development Initiative for US WEST who became a partner in WESTEL Radiotelefon, a joint venture with the Hungarian Telecommunications Company, and which is today T-Mobile. The project involved the operation of the first cellular telephone system in Central Europe. The grant supplemented a $105 million commitment for loans and equity from OPIC and IFC to develop an action plan to re-finance and operate the new GSM system.
